Facelift Surgery

Facelift is a cosmetic surgical procedure in which unwanted wrinkle are removed by tightening the skin of the face, thereby signs of ageing are reversed. A treatment which was only affordable to hollywood stars, celebrities and really wealthy people is now an affordable reality for many women. Here at Excellence clinic we offer many options to bring back that youthful look that you had or always wanted. Dr Prashant Yadav is equipped with the knowledge, skills and experience to give you the facelift makeover.

Facelift also known as rhytidectomy can correct following signs of ageing:

  • -Sagging in the midface.
  • -Deep creases below the lower eyelids.
  • -Deep crease along nose that extends to the corner of the mouth.
  • -Fat that has fallen or is displaced.
  • -Jowls created in the lower face due to loss of muscle tone
  • -Double chin due to excess fat collection and loose skin under chin

Surgeons have studied in significant detail the anatomy of the face from skin to bone. We also better understand the aging process and the changes that take place. With age the skin becomes thinner and it loses elasticity, and becomes separated from the fatty tissue beneath it. However, one’s facial appearance depends not only on the skin but also on what is beneath it: fat, muscle, and bone. These all have a tremendous influence on our appearance. As we age the fatty tissue thins and descends, the muscles become lax, and even the bone atrophies. In order to “reverse” the aging process, surgeons have begun to look past the skin and try to reverse the aging process as it affects the deep structures as well. As a result, these more complex procedures result in a more natural (less pulled) look which lasts longer than the traditional “skin only” facelift.

Facelift procedure

The procedure is done under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation. It can be performed as a solo procedure or can be done in combination with dermal fillers, laser resurfacing, wrinkle reduction or facial implants.

There can be 3 options for the facelift procedure depending upon degree of change required. They are a traditional facelift, limited incision facelift or a neck lift.

For traditional facelift the incision begins in the hairline at temples, goes around ear and ends in the lower scalp. Fat and underlying tissue is redistributed whereas deeper layer of tissue and muscles are lifted. Skin is then draped over the uplifted contours and excess skin is trimmed away. A second incision under the chin may be necessary to further improve an aging neck. Sutures or skin adhesives close the incisions.

When the incision is taken at the temples and continued around ear and possibly within the lower eyelids or under the upper lip, it’s called as limited incision facelift.

Neck LiftSagging jowls, loose neck skin and fat accumulation under the chin may be corrected with a neck lift. The incision in neck lift surgery begins in front of the ear lobe and wraps around behind the ear ending in the lower scalp.

Facelift recovery

When your procedure is completed, a bandage is placed around your face to minimize post facelift swelling and bruising. We will remove your dressing after 48 hrs and you will be given a compression garment.

You will be able to see improvement of a facelift as swelling and bruising subside in 2 weeks time. After 3-4 weeks your final result will be visible. The facelift surgery not only restores a more youthful and rested appearance, but also help you feel more confident about yourself.

Facelift results will be long-lasting.

Once healed, the incision lines from a facelift are well concealed within the hairline and in the natural contours of the face and ear.
