The Eyebrow Transplant Procedure
Eyebrows take a central position on your face. They can literally make or break your looks. Perfectly shaped, dark eyebrows can add definitive attributes to your looks whereas they can dampen a beautiful face if they are sparse or almost missing.
It is important to understand the angles at which the eyebrow hair grows from skin. The transplant has to be done at that exact angle to give natural looking eyebrows. The eyebrow hair when exits the skin it does so at a very acute angle. Also eyebrow hair point upwards where it begins near nose and then it gradually angles laterally near midline and then goes down and laterally at the end. Surgical precision and skill are required to recreate these dimensions, shape and arch of the eyebrows. Typically, women’s eyebrows are naturally more arched whereas a man’s eyebrows are more straight, thick and T-shaped. This is factored into every eyebrow hair transplant at Excellence clinic. Eyebrow replacement cosmetic surgery at Excellence will surely give you the desired results.
FUE Eyebrow Transplant
Typically the grafts for eyebrow transplantation are taken from scalp, legs, pubic region, armpit hair. The scalp hair would be typically taken from nape of neck or sides due it’s soft texture. However, the scalp hair grows faster than eyebrow hair hence they will need to be trimmed quite often to keep them short.
The best option will be hair from your legs as they are thin and short and will not need frequent trimming to match the eyebrow hair length. Other donor areas like pubic hair or armpit hair would also work if there are no suitable donor sites on the body.
Depending upon the existing hair and density desired of the eyebrows, typically around 500 hair follicles will be required. It is absolutely important to follow the angle and direction of the naturally occurring eyebrows, when implanting them on the eyebrow skin. This delicate and intricate procedure requires the skills of specialist to obtain the correct angle and natural looking eyebrows.
The angle and direction of hair insertion is determined by using needles to produce the very smallest incisions, to minimise any scarring or damage to existing hair. The entire procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and it may produce some swelling and bruising afterwards. However, the procedure is essentially painless, as is the recovery period. At the end of the procedure there will be about 500 new eyebrow hair follicles.
The new hair inserted will, initially, fall out after around two weeks but will re-grow some 3-4 months later and will continue to grow throughout the patient’s life. They need to be trimmed monthly to keep them perfectly manicured.
The Safety of Eyebrow Hair Transplants
An eyebrow hair transplant is a small FUE hair transplant procedure hence eyebrow hair transplant recovery time is very quick and side effects are limited. The only painful part is injection of the anesthetics because the region around the eyes is very sensitive. After the anesthesia however you do not feel anything.
Eyebrow hair transplant healing process and eyebrow hair transplant aftercare
Small crusts will form at the donor site which will fall off eventually in a few days. Even transplanted hair will fall off in a few days. Do not scratch them away. To avoid having to explain about these crusts, taking a week off from work might be beneficial. Please use care and caution when taking showers for the first 5 days after surgery. Be sure and do not rub down your eyebrows with towel the first 20 days.
Results of Eyebrow hair transplant
As for every hair transplant, the transplanted hair will fall out in the next 5 weeks because of the transplantation stress. This is only temporary so don’t worry. After 3 to 4 months the hair will regrow. After approximately 6 months the full result will appear. Transplanted eyebrow hair will initially grow at the rate of the donor scalp hair but over a period of time begin to slow down in speed, especially after the first year or two to the natural rate of eyebrow hair due to the influence of the skin in the eyebrow region on the overall growth of these transplanted hair (a condition known as recipient dominance).
